Open by Peter Hill
Open won’t appeal to all eyes, but I have had this shot for a while and need to upload it, if only to stop thinking about it! Sometimes I just like to peel away from the complex visual canvases outside and capture the texture and light of simplicity. Call it practice, rather than post-modernist minimalist expressionism. It’s just my back door, in reflected afternoon sunlight and lamplight. If it’s crap just bmail me accordingly. Shot in RAW with a tripod and kitchen bench-mounted Canon EOS 10D with EF 70-300mm DO IS lens at 70mm, ISO 200, 1 second at f4.5, available light.

West Block by Cathi Norman
Located at Fullarton, South Australia (one of Adelaide’s leafy eastern suburbs), the derelict building was once called the West Block and was built in 1967. The derelict building was owned by the Julia Farr Hospital (formerly know as the Home for Incurables) but sold to developers several years ago. It has been derelict now for about ten years.
