  • Hellgill Force (Winter), Cumbria by Steve Liptrot

Hell Gill Force in Mallerstang accommodates water taken from the High Seat range of hills in the north west of the Yorkshire Dales. The waterfall is actually in Cumbria. The waterfall is often visited by walkers exploring the hills around Wild Boar Fell and can easily be reached by path. As it is also close to the road motorists can easily visit by walking just 250 metres. The waterfall is a single drop fall of approximately 8 metres (25 feet). It was founded before 1541. An unusual feature of Rivington Church is that it is not dedicated to any saint or martyr, but is correctly referred to as ‘Rivington Church’. Rivington was a chapelry of the parish of Bolton, being made a parish in its own right only on the appointment of the Rev. Thomas Sutcliffe in October 1856.

  • The Parsonage, Haworth by Steve Liptrot

The Brontë Parsonage Museum is maintained by the Brontë Society in honour of the famed Brontë sisters — Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë — and is located in Haworth, West Yorkshire, an area of England covered in much open, expansive moorland. It is popular with those seeking to find the source of the sisters’ inspiration, and is of particular interest as the Brontës spent most of their lives here and wrote their famous novels in these surroundings.
