  • Salar de Uyuni y bici by Syd Winer

Mmmmmmm, salt….. / Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni – one of the more surreal cycling experiences. There’s about 5000 square kilometers of this stuff. The only regret I have about this trip was that I didn’t try to ride clean across it – a two day effort by all accounts. Maybe next time.

  • That blue cafe with the great view by Stephen Colquitt

All people who visit Valparaiso in Chile should go to this blue cafe for a coffee.

  • At the end of the earth by Elaine Stevenson

  • The Good, The Bad and Uyuni by Syd Winer

When I say the Bolivian altiplano town of Uyuni has broad dusty streets I mean it has really broad, really dusty streets. Red ‘n green trucks too. And a little guy on a bicycle.

  • Red Moon by Krys Bailey

Probably one of my favourite places in the world! This is the aptly named “Valley of the Moon” (Valle de la Luna) in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. In the distance, the peak of the Volcano Licancabur seems to float above the horizon. It is just before sunset when the rocks take on a golden glow. The moment is short lived as the tropical dusk descends quickly. The white stuff is salt and the lack of humiidity makes the Valley of the Moon devoid of life. This is the most inhospitable place on the planet.

  • Lauca Lluta Llama by Krys Bailey

.... ha, try saying that over and over…. A white Llama stands guard at the entrance to the Lauca National Park, at the Altiplano end of the Lluta Valley in northern Chile. In the background is the peak of Volcano Parinacota which lies on the Chile/Bolivia border. / /

  • Qollyoritti fiesta in Ausangate mountain, Peru by mojgan

This is an amazing ceremony. Every year thousands of people hike up the Ausangate mountain for 4-5 hours up to the Church which is located at the altitute of 4600 meters. Families, children , old people all take part. Some camp up there for 3 days/nights. It is absolutely freezing up there. Hundreds of dancers from various villages take part in the fiesta and dance throughout the day and night. The atmosphere is absolutely fascinating.
