This is the sequel to The Approach It was captured at the same station in Shepparton, just facing in opposite directions! / Used a Sony Alpha with a 28 – 70mm in B&W mode. Ever felt the heavy heart of saying goodbye to someone? Train Stations, airports, bus stops…they can be places of great sadness. When I found this little station, I found myself thinking of the work of two photographers: Don an awesome photographer who loves trains! Check out his breath-taking landscapes and other great work, including this train . He’s given me so much help over the past few years – a generous soul with a great eye for photography. Paul Louis Villani also leapt into my head. He has some incredible images of trains and train stations. While I wouldn’t even attempt to immitate his style, his work gives me so much inspiration, and got me thinking about how I would like to present this scene. My fav image of his is Still standing

This image was the winner of the “best alternative medium” at the ” Artbeat 2006 – Hung Art Competition and Exhibition ” August 2006. Also the winner of “Peoples Choice Award” at The Digital/Hardcopy exhibition at The Gasworks Gallery in Albert Park October 2006. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / This image will be on display and for sale at the Strathcona Art show 7th – 9th September 2007 at Tay Creggan in Hawthorn. / The image will be presented framed, matted & signed. For a train station it is simply breathtaking. For a piece of architecture in itself it is simply breathtaking. / This is just a beautiful building. The star signs on the ceiling are painted from the perspective of heaven.

This is how it would look framed: I’d like you to indulge me a little whilst you look at this image of Baker Street Station as it will help you to see it though my eyes. To help you do this I found a video of Gerry Rafferty playing his 70’s hit ‘Baker Street’ / I can never seem to walk through this station without the sound of that amazing sax running through my head, and since I spent 20 years of my life traveling through this station, every day, on my way to work, the words of the song seem so very relevant for me; this is an image of my home. / Baker Street is also the home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world famous detective Sherlock Holmes. You will find tourists wandering about this part of London looking for the place he was supposed to live… almost as if he were haunting it. I think perhaps that when I’m gone we will probably both end up wandering these platforms, me and a man that never existed – how fitting. / Video Link Here

Agra Station. The lights kept going out but the natural light proved quite atmospheric. A longish exposure captured the moment. I manged to take quite a few images in this moment of darkness and light – and was swamped by the people around me who were fascinated at the instant image on the back of my digital camera… God I love India!
