WILD & FREE / / We were very lucky with our bear sightings at Spitsbergen in the Scandinavian Arctic which allowed us to get some nice close-up shots. These cubs were around 7 months old, and loved to copy mum! / / (Spitzbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) / / >< / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

This was the best day of our Artic trip, we were so lucky to spend hours with this polar bear mum and cubs (there were actually two cubs but the other is out of shot). This cub was around seven months old and full of joy! / I really like the tender love the cub shows for its mum. / / (Spitzbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

WILD AND FREE / / As I said on my “Polar Love” image, this was the best day of our Arctic trip. We were so lucky to spend hours with this mum and cubs as they moved around the ice flows. These cubs were around seven months old and full of joy – although they did not seem all that keen to follow mum this time! / / The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! (Spitzbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

South Georgia is one amazing island that you all must try to get to, if you don’t mind four days in rough seas on a boat that is!!! But it is truly worth it…. This image was taken at a place called “Salisbury Plain”, where there are approximately 250 000 penguins! The sound as you come over the hill is tremendous, not to mention the smell!! Nearly forgot to say that they are king penguins. / / (South Georgia – on an Antarctic trip) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

When I first came to Redbubble, I only had a couple pieces to post. I always reduced the size of my photos before editing them(making them too small for here), just didn’t have a reason to keep them full size until Redbubble. Anyways, I threw this pic up, just so I had more than 2 posted. I didn’t really even like it. The original shot’s exposure was all kinds of screwed up. I edited so much, I was just plain sick of it. But like I said, it was a filler pic. I sooo did not expect the amount of attention it received, much less that it sold. I’ve actually grown to really like it too. So I thought I’d share this, and the original shot with everyone. So here it is: This piece was my very first sold piece. It was also chosen for the Featured Art Page (before group featuring), featured in A Photographer’s Craft group, and was a finalist in the May US Scenic Photo Contest. Thank You!! If you like these, check out the rest of my Rural America Series “

It is very hard to try to explain how incredible Antarctica is if you have not been lucky enough to travel there! For those of you who have, you know what I mean. For those that have not, I will (eventually) be adding more images to help you understand, as words are just not enough! / Let’s just say, I really really really wish I could go back (with a better camera and a longer lens)! :-) / / (Antarctica) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

I took this picture on the steepest island of the world…La Palma (canarian islands). Although it’s the steepest island of the world it’s very rare that it’s snowy on top of the biggest vulcanic mountain. / It was a lucky week so I drove all the way up to the “Roche De Los Muchachos”>>> / (3000 metres high). Shortly before I reached the top a little cave caught my attention. / I went inside and discovered beautiful, thick icicles. The energy there was incredible….it felt pure….above the clouds…elements. check what the product looks like here thank you for stopping by!

My new wolf friend seemed to like having his pictures taken – he stared “up close and personal” right into the lens. I believe it is only fitting to donate the proceeds of the sale of this image to a park that more than 200 wolves call home! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park

While one Gentoo Penguin Chick looks up to mum for some food, the other has a rest on the ground. / / (Antarctic Peninsula) / / Melting sea ice and overfishing have triggered a dangerously rapid decline in penguin populations on the Antarctic peninsula – a direct result of global warming, warns a new report from the WWF. / / The gentoo, chinstrap and adélie – along with the emperor, the largest penguin species in the world – are now struggling to survive as melting sea ice reduces vital food sources, such as krill. / / Gentoos are now listed as nearly endangered on the IUCN Red List. / Read about it yourself here / / >< / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
