These elephant seals were VERY photogenic. They fought off camera, but as soon as you held it up to take a picture, they laid down as shown in the photo and looked all adorable. You just want to hug them!

Stripped of her beauty, she stands alone, firm and strong. / Falling into sleep as Autumn fades. A time to restore her energy spent. / The cold and bitter winds of winter encircle her, testing her. / But she is safe, her armour protecting her, securing her delicate core from the many elements, shielding her from harm. / The rings of time hardened around her, embracing her, allowing her to sleep without worry. / As every day passes, she will take from the sun, bask in the light of the moon and quench her thirst from the soil drawing strength from her foundations, allowing her to grow. / When the time is right and the warmth of the earth awakens her spirit she will yet again show us her splendour. Give us her beauty. /

This photo is taken at the Olmense Zoo (Olmen, Belgium). / Don’t you just love their cute look (claws and teeth not included) (: A quick bio on these beautifull creatures: class: Mammalia (mammals) / order: Carnivora (carnivores) / family: felidae (felines) / genus: puma They go under the names Puma, Panther, Mountain Lion, American Lion and Cougar etc…. The cougar holds the Guinness record for the animal with the highest number of names, presumably due to its wide distribution across North and South America. It has over 40 names in English alone!!! Being the largest of the small cats, they are slender and agile cats. / And although they resemble the domestic cat, they are about the same size as an adult human, with a maximum of about 3 metres!! An adult paw print is approximately 10 cm… that’s 4 inches! The gray wolf and the cougar compete more directly for prey, especially during the winter. While individually more powerful than the gray wolf, a solitary cougar may be dominated by the pack structure of the wolves. / Wolves can steal killings of the cougar and occasionally kill the cougar as well. Cougars (as well as other cat-likes) deserve respect and admiration from all humans! They may look like domestic cats, but are none the less wild animals living on survival instincts only!

Oil Pastel and Acrylic (With minor digital enhancements) For all the troubled souls out there, Ophelia wishes that you a pleasant sweet good night’s sleep and rest soon :D In times like these with many suffering from economic and job woes, there are people losing sleep over the lack of certainty of their futures….some of these are my close friends….a good night’s rest has become such a rare commodity for them. This started off as an encouragment card, send this card to someone who hasnt been getting restful sleep lately due to all the preoccupations with his/her woes. A backstage shot from my first attempt at event photography. The show was so dynamic and energetic that I wasn’t suprised to find the lead singer bent over catching his breath in the green room. I’m starting to appreciate candid photography more and more. There really is something special about capturing a moment that would otherwise be lost in time.
