Vincent’s Cat Recently I’ve been looking at Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings. I love his irises and wanted to paint some myself. Their complicated forms and brilliant deep blues captivated me. As some of you may know I have a fondness for cats. During my life I have had two exceptional ginger cats ‘Victor’ and ‘Mittens’ who were very dear to me; this is dedicated to their memory. When working with flower and plant macros i tune out, i explore a world people pass by every day on their way to work. I am amazed by all the fascinated curves and shapes nature provides, it has a surreal feel to it. / I am seeing the everyday life different after a day in the ground world.

Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) My mate AffectMachine made a card/print in response to Seashore Sally entitled – She Being – Response to Sea Shore Sally Seashore Sally by Karin Taylor is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper (ink pastel acrylic charcoal) I drew/painted this a long time ago, it was the first time i applied a real face to a painting, ie real eyes instead of dots etc. and I wasn’t very happy or confident about doing it at the time, as I had done only dots for eyes, and the lady who purchased it asked me if i could apply a face for her…after i did it, she said it reminded her very much of her sister in law, luckily…she liked her sister in law! lol

This is the neon cuckoo bee (Thyreus nitidulus). drinking nectar from a lavender flower in rural Central Victoria, Australia. This species is counterpart to the blue-banded bee (Amegilla cingulata). (I was lucky enough to get a photo of that one, too!) Both are bees native to Australia. Both are solitary - in the sense that they do not form colonies with a queen - but a number of bees may build nests close together (I’m not sure if they build them adjacently or not). The cuckoo bees - as the name suggests - lay their eggs in nests built by the blue-banded ones. The cuckoo young eat the food stored by the blue-banded bee, leaving the blue-banded young to starve, and earning themselves the label ‘kleptoparasite’.

Oil on canvas, / Created during a time of questioning, / of self discovery, and a time of change….This painting is framed and for sale… / Splashes of gold higlighting flicks of red violet, over a green/blue background, again I worked from my heart, not thinking as this painting evolved, it was only when I took it to the framer he commented on the depth in this work….I don’t analiys my art, I paint it and leave that up to others…to me art strikes different emotions within different people…..I have a friend who I used to paint with who I discovered today is now on Red Bubble, and her interpretation of this painting was very interesting….lol Many many layers of glazing were used to create the finished piece…I hope you enjoy….

Oil Pastel and Acrylic Ophelia dreamed she was on a journey to a foreign land. In that land, she encountered an exotic purple flower with 3 petals. Though strange in appearance,it had the most calming and relaxing scent Ophelia has ever known. Ophelia was most reluctant to leave this flower and its’ scent when she knew her dream odyssey had to come to an end soon.
