This shot was taken in Copacabana in 2006, a little town in the north of Bolivia, situated on the bank of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800 mts. / There was a big celebration in town that day and so much to see and discover. But I was so tired that I decided to sit down and rest for a while when those two men sat just in front of me. I took so many pictures of them but this one is my favorite.

This berg was as big as a house! We were bobbing around in a little lifeboat so we could be close to these and get some photos. Our main ship, the Skorpios III, although happy to plough through ice flows would not venture closer than 1 kilometre to the glacier face. The glacier in the background is the Pope Pio XI, the largest glacier (I think) in South America. Southern Patagonia, Chile.

Cusco, Peru’ ! / While walking in Cusco a few days ago I met this little girl, Flor, and her sister Yolanda ! I had already taken a picture of them last year ” Flor y Yolanda ” and when I showed them a copy of the photo.. they were so impressed that they asked me to take more pictures. This is just one of the many I took ! She is so confident and loves to be photographed !!! I love this picture for the way she poses here, the way she smiles, her spontaneity.. and the beautiful contrast of colors !!!

A different perspective of the Paine Massif and the famous “Los Cuernos” (Horns), as seen from the road to the Hosteria Lago Grey, where we spent an incredible few days. Torres del Paine National Park, Patagonia, Chile.

On my first visit to Chile, we were the first passengers to sail the Kaweskar Route of the southern fjords on the Skorpios III. The weather was terrible most of the time (typical Patagonia n springtime) and the day before this, visibility was nil. Imagine our surprise when this day we woke up to this serene and magical sight. I think it is the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen – photos cannot do it justice.

Señor Tuco is a Toucan who I met in Peru! It was love at first sight! Part of the reason for that was because on our first meeting, in our Hotel near Nazca, he flew into my eye! :o) Despite being a bit of a gannet (pardon the comparison) and begging for food at the breakfast table, Señor Tuco, as pictured here in what I think is a Pepper Tree, is a free spirit – a free bird! The fact that he lives in the barren coastal desert instead of the lush interior jungle, makes me think he may have fallen out of the nest and hit his head as a chick! :o)

Tacanga ( Sta Marta ), Colombia! I visited this little village near Santa Marta on the North Coast of Colombia a few weeks ago. People seemed to be really friendly and enjoying a simple life ! / In this quite and tranquil place I just found peace, enjoying sun and fresh fish. / While eating in one of the many restaurant after a day on the beach, I noticed those two little boys trying to catch in somehow a fish and everything they could !!!

Probably one of my favourite places in the world! This is the aptly named “Valley of the Moon” (Valle de la Luna) in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. In the distance, the peak of the Volcano Licancabur seems to float above the horizon. It is just before sunset when the rocks take on a golden glow. The moment is short lived as the tropical dusk descends quickly. The white stuff is salt and the lack of humiidity makes the Valley of the Moon devoid of life. This is the most inhospitable place on the planet.

Probably one of the most photographed places on the planet, but at least I struck lucky and managed to get 5 of the 11 resident llamas to stay put while I got some shots. Machu Picchu, Peru.

I TOOK THE LIBERTY TO LIVE IN ABJECT POVERTY WHEN i DIDN;T HAVE TO WHILE A YOUNGER MAN. I LIVED IN A PALAPA ON THE BEACH AND COOKED OVER A FIRE IN THE CORNER OF MY SAND FLOORED ROOM. I SLEPT IN A HAMMOCK AND ATE INDIGENOUS FOODS AND SMOOTHING FOR BREAKFAST EVERYDAY AND GOT SPIRITUAL RIGHT AFTER BREAKFAST. I SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN THE HAMMOCK AND READ MANY LATIN AMERICAN POETS AND WROTE AND WROTE. I LOVED MY LIFE AND NEVER WOULD HAVE LEFT BUT FOR THE INFLUX OF TOURISTS THAT CONTINUED TO TRY AND BEFRIEND ME. I PREFERED THE MAYANS. I WAS AT PEACH AND LOVE MY LIFE. WOKE TO A LOVELY BREEZE AND BEAUTIFUL YOUNG GIRLS ASKING ME IF I CARED TO BUY FRESH STRAWBERRIES AND THEN FISH IN THE AFTERNOON. A LOVELY LIFE
