Sunset at U Bein’s Bridge – Mandalay, Burma. The bridge, made entirely of teak, is said to be the longest wooden bridge in the world. A fascinating human procession can be seen on the bridge at any time of day, but especially at sunset. A large Buddhist monastery is located at the foot of the bridge explaining the large number of monks that use it.

Buddhist Monks on U Bein’s Bridge – Mandalay, Burma. The bridge is constructed entirely of teak and is reputed to be the longest wooden bridge in the world. It is located just outside the large city of Mandalay in Central Burma. A Buddhist Monstery is situated at the foot of the bridge.

The Gyoto Monks of Tibet are an often seen sight at many cultural events in the Byron Bay region. Seen here laughing, this particular monk escaped Tibet into India 50 years ago with His Holiness, The Dali Lama. His trademark expression and enjoying tea and biscuit, the joke is enjoyed by all at the table.

The Balancing Rock Pagoda – Mon State, Burma. Buddhist pilgrims struggle up a steep grade to reach the pagoda. Men are allowed to approach it closely where they pray and apply gold foil. Women have to be content with viewing the shrine from an elevated platform about 10 meters away. The shot was taken at sunset.

Shot a few weeks ago during the lotus lantern festival here in Seoul. It took place a week before Buddhas birthday. Shot at a high iso, so had to run it through Neat Image, then using selective cloning and burning, removed some of the unwanted clutter in the background. Loved all the bright colours!
