Oils on canvas (27.5×19.5 inches) Autumn in Ireland… and the colours are beautiful. This is a peaceful scene depicting the Irish countryside. However, there is always something about to happen in nature – if we just wait long enough! Thank you to Maria Murphy for allowing me to use her lovely photo as reference for this painting!! Oils (16×20 inches) A painting depicting Ireland in days past. Autumn in Ireland and the man is returning home with his cart of peat. This is an old painting I did several years ago, entirely from my imagination. We still use peat (turf) in Ireland and love the smell wafting through the air during the long, cold winters. Every year, at about this time, on country roads in County Clare, you will most likely slow down to a snail’s pace as you drive behind an ancient tractor (with an even more ancient driver… :-) ) loaded with peat. When the load is brought to your home, be prepared for a few hours of hard, back-breaking work as the huge load of peat must be stacked neatly in a pile. Nothing beats cooking on the old range and the warmth spreads through the house and food tastes so much better. The kitchen is the best place to be on a cold day!

This painting was fun as it was the first time I have tried used a spatula. / Can you find the fish? / I love painting over and over the canvas so you get unexpected bits.

The doe took a little time off from busy eating for the photo opportunity, although she didn’t want to give up the tasty colorful leaf. By now everyone who has ever seen my work knows that I’m absolutely “addicted” to develop a deep relationship and establish an intimate communication with mule deer (we don’t have a lot of white-tailed deer around here). Everyday I go out there in the early mornings, hoping to have a close encounter! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada

I haven’t learned this guy’s name yet because there are three horses at Ten Oaks from the same “family.” The barn owner owns one of them and a boarder owns the other two. All are spotted and look so much alike but I’m sure I’ll eventually learn to tell them apart. This one especially since he’s a bit of ham and camera hog:-) /

On Main Street in Lexington sits the Southern Inn. This painting depicts the building as it is familiar to those of us who live about; bathed in the light of a bright autumn day. The sun’s light cast strong shadows across the buildings facade and the only working neon sign in town. As it flows across awnings and to the street, it accents a small pile of fallen leaves in the gutter; a seasonal cherry on the visual sundae. Acrylic on panel

My dog River posing for a portrait in the snow. She has ALWAYS liked her picture being taken since she barely opened her eyes at two weeks of age. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.
