This painting is yet another example of why I think it’s better that I stick to the illustrations and leave the “fine arts” to others. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s worse than a Jonas Brothers album or anything, but…well…it is what it is.

Acrylic On Canvas Abstract Expressionism. Spare a thought for the loner; the soul ghosting the planet. / Your time is the biggest gift of all. I have (after uploading and consideration) decided this is not finished. I wish it was, but I got quite emotional painting it. I remember years of feeling like this, having no one, not connecting with anyone, feelings of worthlessness compounding my situation. After all, who likes to admit that they are suffering from loneliness. / I don’t feel this way anymore, I am one of the lucky ones who finally learnt and accepted the value of another’s kindness as not being a weakness to accept, but rather a gift, because as we know, the gift is in receiving graciously as well as giving. / So, please, although I would like to do more work on this, I think it appropriate at this time of the year that we all extend our hearts and arms to those around us who may be feeling like this. Maybe a single person at work whose family live so far away. Have you asked them what they are doing for Christmas? Maybe the person on the street with no shoes. It doesn’t cost much to give them some, or a new blanket, maybe even a hot meal from a local take-away. The thing that helps is just knowing someone cares, and that it’s ok to accept their gift, for one day it will be returned.

In this painting I have endeavored to reduce the landscape down to its absolute minimum, focusing purely on the line of salt-bush on the horizon, with one solitary bird hovering in the air, to give the impression of the raw empty heat of a mid day summer where nothing stirs until l the cool of the evening. . . Oil on Canvas – No Airbrushing 24 X 48 inches / 92 X 122 cm Original : / $1200 AU – excluding p&p from Melbourne, Australia / contact my Agents at Gallery 112 / .....................................................................................................

“Seabird In Flight” is about the form of a bird’s airborne movement in relationship with the harmonious contours of the overall landscape. The bird itself becomes a natural part of the world that it resides in. . . A tiny, tidy room. I am speaking in memories, illusions and pleasantries. The air conditioner is not running and the sun shines through a white window over white wicker furniture and artificial floral arrangements and a tile floor that is not lovely at all, not chic at all, but is always clean. / I am leaving, / scooting around the edge, / feeling my way in the dark, / suddenly unable to breath. / I feel proud of myself for avoiding the obvious. Proud for not bringing it to anyone’s attention. Proud for not mentioning that I was suffocating. Proud that I didn’t let my feelings show. Proud that I was what someone else wanted me to be and not who I am. Proud that I had kept / the secret. / I open the door to get into the car, sniff the air, look down. I must have stepped in elephant poop. / I don’t feel proud at all. This painting is acrylic on canvas. 52”x52” 2008
