You really do know how to shoot a portrait, don’t you? Fantastic work. This is very August Sander, but then a few decades later.

Fantastic portrait. It feels set many years earlier than the 1960’s.

This is close to my heart! My Grandad was down the mines from age twelve, thought in the war, was a POW, escaped and went back down the mines untill he was 65! He died from coal dust in his lungs! You could see that his veins were blue in his hands from the coal! What an amazing man and my hero to this day! This is a great image!!

And a pint well deserved. The processing of this print is absolutely fantastic. Through contrast you have captured every nook and crany in his face, which tells of the hardship endured from 56 years of labor in the pits. Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn’t imagine being a miner my whole life these days, let alone having already done it for a lifetime come 1964 – Great portrait yet again David
