Oh dear. That picture says so much! Glass half full perspective makes me think of how many memories the lady carries. Hopefully, many good ones.
Whenever I see those kind of trees, I think about my second-favourite book. It was given as a present at my birth, in Gouda, the Netherlands, in 1943 and it was an anthology of children’s literature. It included a poem about those kind of trees standing patiently, year after year by the waterside, in Holland. Just having their ‘hair’ (branches) clipped every so often.

This poignant photo reminds me of my trip to Yugoslavia in 1987; everyday I’d see women who looked just like this walking to daily Mass, their arms loaded with flowers for the altar at church.
