Hey Krys…This is a great shot. Nice work. I don’t know if you can see it, but in the lower left (to the right of the cattle) is an Australian Cattle Dog, also known as a Queensland Heeler. These are beautiful dogs, about 33 pounds (15-16 kg) and about 18 inches (48 cm) tall. They have a double coat consisting of a short dense under coat and a short straight outer coat. They live up to 15 years. Great animals. If you like high energy – lots of activity, tricks, etc. They nip at the “heels” of cattle to move them. When they are not challenged, they can create their own fun by hearding ducks, chickend, humans, pigeons and even cars. Lol…just thought you’d like to know. Keep smiling, kiddo.

Oh Ed! I nearly spilled my cider reading your immensely entertaining narrative about the “Australian Cattle Dog” in amongs the Chilean cattle! You are almost as mad as me … no – I award YOU the trophy! Now tell me, how many native Chilean butterflies can you identify for me … just so I can list them in the keywords on Alamy….... ;o) ???

Yes…Phylum Llamatada Fourleggedous de Chile. A rare breed. They only live under volcanos. You may not have been aware of that fact.
This Phylum also includes the famous Llamatada Dogeth, which looks just like those Australian Cattle Dogs I spoke of, hence the confusion. Did I mention I like that butterfuly shot? ;-)

fabulous picture, what a lovely view
Krys Bailey in reply to Ed Moore’s comment, 6 months ago
I did notice that there are a lot of feral dogs in Chile. They all appeared to be different breeds, but perhaps they were all variants of the Llamatada Dogeth ;o). What do you know about Houseybunny Hoppity Rabbitus (common name “Devibunnies”)? I have two of those who live in my house.

Gotta love the near-perfect shape of these volcanoes.
Krys Bailey in reply to Al Bourassa’s comment, 5 months ago
Thank you, Al. Yes the shape of many of these Chilean volcanoes is storybook perfect. They look stunning with their snowy cones looming up in an otherwise relatively flat landscape.

I love it when snowcaps show so gloriously against such a deep blue sky. I think surely: only in Latin America. Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. How lovely you must have felt to be there and capture it so beautifully, too.

Thank you Donna! Chile is my spiritual home. Seeing these beautiful volcanoes in such stunning light was truly awesome! Very humbling!
