monet
These ripples and reflections reminded me of Claude Monet’s pond and waterlily paintings. I always knew he was a genius, but now I think I begin to understand what a remarkable eye he had, along with an uncanny ability and talent to be able to translate such images through the medium of paint on canvas, with such world renowned phenomenal results.
This simple shot pales into insignificance beside his masterpieces!
So maybe it’s just as well it isn’t next to any of them.

Good shot Jan….love the movements of the reflections in water. Monet got his inspiration from looking at scenes through reflections, so I read once. Loved his work which is why I named my cat Monet (Claude Snowball Monet – the Snowball is what my mum called him because he is white and fluffy – darn nuisance with his fur on the carept though…lol).
This shot is really peace provoking if just sit and look into it…lovely.

I agree Jan about the Monet and his paintings – this does remind you of his work. Very soft. Nice work in capturing this

Thank you. I was thinking today, long after I uploaded it on RB, that it was terribly murky and not a very good sample of work; but I’ve been a little restricted in subjects since Saturday. So this was taken from our family room window…with a fair bit of zoom!
So, I am rapt by your generous comment and somewhat comforted.
I have always adored Monet’s paintings, having seen quite a number in art galleries. But it was not until I looked into this and other shots I took, that I suddenly ‘saw’ the reflections on water as he painted them. It was a real aha! moment.

Thank you CJ for wonderfully detailed comment and encouragement.
I knew he was inspired by a pond in his garden, which he designed and built, but was unaware it was the reflections that were the spark.
How funny that you named your cat ‘Monet’! But having had cats, although none as fluffy as yours, I know what you meant about the fluff everywhere!
So glad you find this shot peaceful. I know just looking out the window at this beautiful river has been a real gift just recently, but is always a source of peace for me.

Thank you…I wasn’t too sure that it was any good actually, and certainly doubted it was good enough for RB. So I really do appreciate your encouraging words.
The tones are typical Australian muted grey-greens with the white of the gum tree trunks, all rippled together.

Thank you Bev once again for your continued encouragement and support.
It’s nothing flash or fancy, just a camera pointed ~ with zoom ~ and the shot taken. Essentially it is he work of the shutter and lens; oh the one extra bit I added was putting the camera on a tripod.
GLad you get what I was saying about Monet, one of my all time favourites. It wasn’t until I loaded this onto the computer from the camera that I had a sudden revelation…before me apeared a photo so like many of his paintings that I could suddenly understand for the first time what he saw all those years ago!
A bit of an epiphany really!

Jan – one day it might be worth a lot of money!!! How’s the injury?
Jan Stead JEMp..., 2 months ago
lol!!!! But truly great artists don’t tend to make any money while they’re alive, do they?
My ankle is actually beginning to get better I think. Thank you. After a couple of shocking days and nights, spent mostly in bed and another couple of virtually sleepless nights with horrible pain, which was flaring up only an hour after taking ibuprofen, I finally decided to go to my own Dr and get it checked out.
He looked at the x rays and confirmed that there is not break, but decided my badly swollen foot and completely numb toes (do you wish you hadn’t asked??) were the result of the elasticised tube the hospital put on, which was too small and, doubled over as it was a few times, was exerting more pressure than it should.
As soon as he’d taken that off and simply strapped it, I felt great relief. He also prescribed stronger medication for the nights and I am now sleeping pain free.
Today and tonight I’ve begun careful weight bearing, whihc feels great, but will have to be careful not to overdo it.
Thank you for asking.

P.S. If I take a friend’s suggestion up, you may be delighted to a progressive display of my bruises, as they change colour, shape etc over the days. But I doubt it, as I was appalled at the idea!!!! >:(
