I don’t believe it! After my brand new shiny camera broke down (autofocus problems) and was replaced by the shop, I was midway through shooting some gerberas when my replacement Nikon D300 decided it was going to give up the ghost. The camera does everything except FOCUS!!! Bit of a disadvantage there then, unless you want to focus manually!!! I tried removing the battery, changing the lens, all the obvious stuff but all to no avail. I don’t believe it!!! Maybe I should have gone for the Canon after all???!!!
So in a few hours time its back to the camera shop along with my poorly Nikon. It’ll probably be sent back to Nikon for repair, so I’ll be camera-less for a while which is gonna be a killer :o(

Oh BUMMER!!! No luck with that camera! So sorry to hear that Sarah! Hopefully it wont take too long to repair. Try to SURVIVE my friend! I feel your pain!!!

LOL its true, its true. Photography is my only pastime, its my way of relaxing, so its gonna be a killer! I find myself wishing I’d gone for the Canon 5d. I love my D300 but so far its not been a good experience!!! maybe it was a bad batch!

the Canon 5d is amazing. my friend has it and looooooves it.
Sarah Pett-Noble in reply to Melissa Kosswig’s comment
sigh,, I’m full of regret :o( I’ve heard such good things about the 5d’s image quality and low noise visibility. I must have been crazy not to get one!

well you know, you live & learn. now you know for next time!

Sorry to hear of your continuing problems Sarah. I have not heard of such problems with Nikon products before. It seems your photo dealer is being less than helpful too – I am sure with such a new camera you should be entitled to a replacement (again) rather than them sending it back to Nikon, given you have had the camera such a short length of time. They could have at least lent you a camera while it is away!

I am a Canon user, which is not always without problems either – seems you have been a rare unlucky Nikon buyer!

Thanks for the link, Colin, I will save it for future reference. I took the camera back and one of th e little switches had clicked onto manual, so I must have inadvertantly moved it! I felt such an idiot at th shop!

I hope it gets sorted out quickly – how annoying!

Sorry to hear your woes…..
I have had my doubts about my Nikon too at times…it is very touchy and inclined to stop working also…..
good luck!

Hehe… that has happened to me before (apart from the taking it back to the shop!).
Pleased all is well anyway and look forward to seeing more pics from you

Hi Sarah…hope flipping the switch solved all the troubles. I have a Nikon myslef and i love it…however I use a Canon at work – I honestly love them both and see no difference in quality. So…don’t regret too much :) – Your recent posts are just lovely so the Nikon must be behaving somewhat i hope. :)
Sarah Pett-Noble in reply to RebeccaT’s comment
Hi Rebecca, it’s behaving impeccably today and I’m pleased with it. It’s my first Nikon, and I love the 17-55 2.8 lens and the 50mm 1.8. I wasn’t too happy with the sigma macro but am gonna save up for a Nikon macro. I’ve always used Canon in the past. I must admit I do love the colour rendition and ability to work at a high ISO with this Nikon.
