Colours of Lichen
Colours of Lichen
This old fence is typical of many fences located at Hill End, New South Wales.
In the early 1870’s rich gold discoveries rapidly turned Hill End from a small rural and mining community into one of the largest inland towns in New South Wales.
The Photos – One of the businessmen attracted by Hill End’s boom was a photographer by the name of Beaufoy Merlin. He photographed the whole town, scene by scene and building by building. The lucky discovery of this – one of the world’s greatest collections of historic photos – in the 1950’s means that we can see for ourselves, the drama that was once Hill End.

Colours of Lichen belongs to the following groups:
Bits and Pieces , Don't Fence Me In and Rural NSWAvailable for sale as Greeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

Along the main road at Hill End there are many fences like this one, some leaning over – Yes, they certainly are “classic”! Glad to see that they are still there, it certainly adds to the character of the town!
