"The Delicate Art Of Sorrow "
broken pieces
colour fading
heavy stem
heavy laden
double burden
bending lower
seeds have fallen
moving slower
but we are one
you and I
in life we lived
and death we die
to the earth
we make our nest
our summer journey
laid to rest
(this is a real 2 headed dandelion my son brought to me from the yard today :)

Basia McAuley
This is soooo beatutiful! The words, the composition, the aged treatment, everything! WOW! Well done!
Birgitta
Thanks so much Michelle. :)
And Basia, I’d be lying if I said you weren’t my main reason for doing
this! I thought about your piece: “Generations” and while I had no idea
how you got those amazing textures..I tried my own recipe…heh. Just kinda
threw this and that together. :-/ Thanks for checking it out and (as always)
inspiring me so much. :)
Alexia Wardell
I love it, great color and the texture is to die for. Wonderful piece as always.

Nice words… sort of makes death not sound so bad. After all, life and death is an endless circle. This is layer blending put to its most beautiful use. Lovely, soulful image.
Lumineux
I wonder at how something so light and wistful could be given so much more meaning and substance. Only you could do it! The image and words speak to me about the transience of life, and the little time we really have to live it.
Dave Warren

Great treatment, great color ,texture subject matter, words and title. What does the characters translate to in english?Regards.
Birgitta in reply to mcquaid’s comment
Well Mcquaid, I haven’t a clue!
My daughter (who’s a self taught Japanese student)
laughs because I have a few Asiatic brushes in CS3-
and I’ll just slap whatever on there if I like the shape of it.
For all I know it could say: “I need to do my laundry..” :-/
Or, nothing at all. (which is more likely) But again, it was the
shapes and curves I was going by. ;)
liga

prbimages
Birgitta, mcquaid, Krisso, the Japanese katakana characters down the side read “bo-pu-pi”, which means nothing in particular, just random sounds.
Nevertheless, a great image, well done!

What a very beautiful emotive piece of Art, Birgitta !! A work of great contrasts melded together well, the delicate softness and the aged, cracked appearance running right through everything. The artwork matches well with the verse !! A Masterpiece !!!

excellent job ! birgi:)
Arletta
Very interesting… in several ways I can’t imagine why a dandelion would want to be two headed, but, I can imagine, once it decided there was a reason for it, it mutating that way. Dandelions are the smartest plants I know of. They learn to grow too short for lawn mower blades, after a few times of being mowed over; and, the same plant will grow tall again when the lawn mower hasn’t been around for a good long while. Very cool plants; as well as good for you.
Birgitta in reply to Arletta’s comment
I didn’t know that! Wow. I like the way you think.
You point out strange & interesting facts. :)
shanemcgowan

how life can be so cruel behind this delicacy? I feel it doesn’t understand anything, if it did, it could believe in simplicity of art.
