Wood cut print hand colored
This is not my original sketch….I did it from a visual I saw somewhere…..but I carved it out of wood and its an A1 size. Which means I had to cut this piece of wood FORVER! In fact I am going to take a photograph of the woodcut so you can see it.

Wood cut print hand colored belongs to the following groups:

Survivor is on?! Hey what… which one…
This is stunning, love the colours. Yes, just select the image you want under preview/purchase, right click and copy the url in properties, paste it in your description section with an exclamation on either side of the url… and hit save.

Ok, I’m not quiet sure of that…when you say select image you want, what if its in your picture file? is there a url in the photo? When you say exclamation do you mean”””” ” ” dur I feel so dumb…back to Survivor with Son…...want to be on the bubble but have to be a good Mummy for my boy Jet!

I am just absloooooootely rapt in this Billie Lee,
when you work out how to do what you asked Carmen I need a few more details too!
Susan Grissom
Billie Lee this is stunningly gorgeous! The detail is great and those colors too!
Belinda "Billy...
I started off in ink and it wasnt vibrant enough in color and then I added acrylic….I found the most amazing acrylic colors in Bunnings of all places. So get down to Bunnings gals, they have really nice brushes and paints.

as you guys can see, I finally figured it out. Thanks Carmen, you are the teacher on how to do all of this. Looks cool huh, peopel often say they like the woodcut better then the print. I have woodcuts for all of them, well a lot of them anyway, I might show them with all the woodcuts. But for now its back to this magazine commission I am deadlined for. Have to set up the printing press and print this new piece of wood out. Procrastinating because I don’t know what I am going to get! Nervous. B

AMAZING! the woodblock looks great too!
Carmen Cilliers
Actually I just said I prefer the woodcut, but then went back to the print… I cant choose, the print is so alive and vibrant with colour, but the woodcut is wonderful… if I were hanging one on my wall I have decided it would be the coloured print. You have worked the colours in a stunning way! Cant wait for the magazine spread to come out!

d’Sart, this is a one and only….I hand painted it. Its not a reduction print. I do have a reduction print on my site but its the yellow, green, white and black. Man that was hard enough. I did 20 prints and not one was perfect. This is much easier, handpainting it. Which means it is a one and only, so I will probably frame it and enter it in a show next year. I enjoyed handpainting it. It must have taken me a month or two, going back and forward. Look forward to seeing your woodcut prints soon. B

I agree with muscular teeth
you really are something/someone very special

You know what, I needed your comments today I really did. Because when you go to an art show and your print is still there surrounded by red dots of oil landscapes, you think, “What am I doing?” I have been having doubts. But with your comments I am going to keep on the same track, maybe enter the Print Council of Australia comp…because its what I really want. Thanks so much for your encouragement and support. It came when needed most.

follow your dreams and dam the rest

You have got some real talent!

Thanks for sharing the image of the plate as well as the hand-colored pull.
When you have the time, think about loading up an image of a pull in black and white only, and of at least a detail of the original image that inspired you to carve the block, to fill out the neat visual lesson that you have put together here.
I have read some of your comments about your prints and I just want to add the viewpoint that in “real” printmaking, there isn’t an expectation that any or all of the pulls in the series from a given plate(s, or blocks,) be mechanically perfect or perfectly repeated, on the contrary, each of the hand-pulled prints is a complete and integral work of art on it’s own, not a reproduction of a work of art.
I think your coloring technique is a knock-out! I need to do something with the “dogs” that pile up from unsatisfactory pulls (sometimes a print comes out blah, but not bad enough to throw away or use for shopping lists), I like coloring them in with pencils, but now I am going to get out the acrylics and follow your example.
Belinda "Billy... in reply to Edward Huse’s comment
Dear Edward, I will do that, download an image of the black and white print and put it on this page. Great idea…..thanks for your positive feedback because its been helpful and I love to hear what you had to say. Its really helpful…stay tuned I will let you know when I download the b/w and the original photograph I got inspiration of the picture. Thanks Billy….P.S I got married in Greenwish Connecticut in 1993 as my husband was born there…we all live in Australia now. Billy

I think this is my favourite, awesome artwork, I’m sure its a labour of love, outstanding art!!! wow!!!

Hey, this is being featured which is great because I am thinking of getting it framed up and putting it in a show this month. I need to put a price on it. I will let you know how big it is framed up and how much it cost to frame. I think it took me three weeks of spare time to hand colour this print. Its a large print on A1 paper so its big. As its the only one I will have to put a price on it that I think is deserving. Any ideas for me..? BillyLee
