Model – Jess / Lighting and Staging – koukei / This is the first of a series of images I want to publish to set myself some goals in 2009, and getting a grip with studio lighting. Something to look back on during the year as a reference. This image is from a workshop with Peter from Koukei, an amazing talent in studio photography.

  • My son with teddy by amante

Taken with a Nikon D200, 70 to 200 mm lens. I probably just like this photo because it happens to be my son!! But his eyes have one over me, (or is it the freckles?). It doesn’t really have any creative features, and it’s not particularly technically inventive. I just like it. Hope that you do too!!

  • In Awe by Ralph Meznar

I found this going through some old drives, was 2004 i think. / She was watching a Busker make ballon twisted toys for the kids ,she was next in line.

  • Girls on a Corner by Dennis Gay

The Location: / My favourite caffeine oasis, The Créma Espresso Bar in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia has moved from its riverside location to a larger premises in the CBD. While this means the end of my riparian candid photography it is also means the beginning of some serious street shots as the new Créma is on a main intersection. / This shot was made while I was sitting at an outdoor table with a Nikon shooting camera club mate. We both had a ball! The Subject: / These young local lasses were just hangin’ out on Macka’s corner right at the end of my Fuji’s 300mm. Though I had plenty of time to make a shot I was hoping that the vehicular and pedestrian traffic would ease off just long enough. Photographer’s Luck was on my side! The Making of Girls on a Corner: / Because of the great contrast in the scene I set the exposure with a B&W in mind. / Fuji S9600: Manual settings of f/4.9 @ 1/500sec, Continuous focus, ISO80, Hand held. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop with a good B&W conversion. • Portrait: Levi loves his slipperydip by Vanessa Pike-Russell IPA

My adorable nephew enjoys climbing up his slippery dip and slides down with abandon. His sturdy little legs making their way up the rungs, his hands grip the handles and then he slides down with a big grin on his face. He makes my heart swell with pride and love.
