The Speed of Fire by Ronald Maurer
As always I carry my camera eveywhere I go. Went to a weekend barbque a long time friends house. Took some daylight pics where I wound up catching a few ticks. But @ night time the fire started. Some old furniture was broken up to feed the flames. ( hence the screws visible in this image ) I took alot of pics of the fire and got quite a number that I liked. The shape of the flames in this image spoke to me.

Slip, Slide and... Wahey! by Paul Tupman
I went out to the desert yesterday with some friends… ...just trying something new. This was taken half way up one of the large sand dunes that we stupidly decided to climb… well, not even half way. Anyway, at this point, little James decided it would be more fun to slide all the way down again! Red Sands, 45 minutes west of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia / December 10th, 2008

Wildfire Night by ArtByDrew
A wildfire burns tonight / With crackle as tree crowns ignite / It’s smoke so thick, conceals sight / And roars like thunder to show it’s might / / Bright red line is all that’s seen / To show where fire does careen / It blackens that which once was green / No longer are these woods serene / / We watch the fire filled with fear / As closer do it’s flames draw near / Our woodland home that we hold dear / Upon our land in this frontier / / This is a pure fractal artwork that was inspired by a really scary experience that came close to costing us our home back in 2000. My wife and I used to live high in the Colorado Rockies between two wilderness areas. The ‘High Meadow’ wildfire of 2000 came within a third of a mile of our home. We packed up three vehicles twice in three days, ready to evacuate at a moments notice. At night, you could only see the glowing red line of the fire front through all of the smoke. We had to take turns sleeping so one of us could keep an eye on the fire at all times. It was an experience that I hope not to repeat now that we live in the much wetter rain forests of the Oregon coast range. This fractal artwork was created in ChaosPro, and the gradient used in the fractal was created in the ChaosPro Gradient Editor that is packaged with the software. The original is 6200×7800 pixels at 300 pixels per inch, so it is hard to appreciate the detail of the artwork over the internet. / /
