  • Convict Lake by steveberlin

Convict Lake is located along Highway 395 in the Eastern High Sierra just southeast of Mammoth Lakes, and due west of Crowley Lake nestled right up against Mount Morrison. The Lake has a similar appearance to Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada in that the water has a greenish tint surrounded by a mountain range. This one photograph was taken using super high contrast film with a polarizing filter to bring out the colors of the water. One of the many things to do around the lake is hike up into the John Muir Wilderness, fish on the lake and paddleboating. The lake was named after an incident in 1871, where a group of convicts escaped from prison in Carson City. A posse, led by Sheriff Robert Morrison, encountered the convicts near the head of what is now Convict Creek. Morrison was killed in the encounter, and Mount Morrison was named after him. (source Wiki – Convict Lake). This is one of three photographs from a series I have in my portfolio about Convict Lake, Mammoth Lakes area, CA.

  • Southern Paradise by aabzimaging

Secluded beach at Two Peoples Bay near Albany. Stunning place to visit, unfortunately it was to cold to go for a swim (at least for my taste). Framing suggestion: / © aabz-imaging / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

  • Elephant Rocks by aabzimaging

A long time ago someone dropped some massive boulders into a picturesque turquoise pool near Denmark/Western Australia. Today these rocks are called Elephant Rocks and are part of the William Bay National Park. Framing suggestion: / © aabz-imaging / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

  • Living in Water by Claire Farley

Have not mucked around with this with a flood filter. Taken of an offspring from the main plant growing in the water at a Lake in Ballajura. I just loved the colour of it and it’s refections in the water

  • Stunning Switzerland by alexcoles

Beautiful Swiss mountains in the setting sun. Taken a couple of years ago in a Swiss valley.

  • Pa'ako Beach Makena Maui Hawai'i by Sharon Anne Mau

© 2008 Sharon Anne Mau At the northernmost corner of the Polynesian triangle, the Hawaiian Islands stand as a sentry for a collection of atolls, volcanic remnants, coral blocks and large islands that punctuate the region stretching to Aotearoa (New Zealand) in the south and Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in the east. Hawai’i is the newest landmass in Polynesia and the most isolated settled area on the globe, rife with unique ecosystems. Maui, sitting in the middle of the main Hawaiian island chain, is young geologically. Haleakala, still volcanically active in the 18th century and now considered dormant, rises 10,023 feet. The older and more eroded West Maui Mountains are 1.3 million years old. The tallest point at Pu’u Kukui – 5,788 feet – is one of the rainiest spots on earth. Ka’anapali is on the leeward side of these mountains of West Maui on the slopes facing the islands of Lana’i, visible on the horizon in this image and the beautiful island of Moloka’i. • "Smooth Sunset" by Bradley Shawn Rabon

I took this in Jersey, CI, at St. Ouen’s Bay (affectionately known as Five mile beach). The sunset was gorgeous, and I used a long exposure to get the glassy effect on the sea. St. Ouen’s is one of the best bays to photograph in Jersey. The sound of the gentle tide lapping on the shore was a very lulling sound and extremely mesmerizing. Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll, 28-300mm zoom, f/22, shutter 30 sec. / Cokin graduated grey ND filter 121, ISO 200

Sorry to everyone who comments earlier, I noticed some things on the picture I wanted to change. This picture was taken near my cottage in Northern Ontario
